What does Gajov upgrade permanently?
Gajov increases an unlocked item's minimum quality. The developer's example is a weapon upgraded to Uncommon: future Loadout selections and loot copies appear at Uncommon or above. This is a quality floor, not a promise of the next drop's exact rarity.
Before spending on an upgrade
- Identify the item you actually want to use, rather than assuming the rarest recent pickup is the best choice.
- Read the current upgrade screen and record its displayed cost and minimum quality.
- After upgrading, compare the same item's permanent entry. Compare like-for-like rather than another weapon or a temporary found copy.
This checklist is editorial advice. Material costs, upgrade caps and a universally optimal purchase order have not been independently verified here.
Purification and upgrades solve different problems
Use the Purification guide if your question is why a found Rare piece unlocked as Common. Use this page when checking the permanent quality floor after a Gajov upgrade. If a recorded upgrade appears missing, report the item, before/after screens, platform and installed version; do not rely on an invented reset or recovery command.

Quick answers
- Does a Gajov upgrade guarantee the next drop rarity?
- It raises the minimum quality for that item, rather than guaranteeing a particular higher-rarity drop. Check the current upgrade screen for costs.
